Client Testimonials

“Life-changing” doesn’t feel like a strong enough phrase to describe our family’s experience working with Emily. I wrote my first email to Vermont Dog Behavior while sitting in the waiting room at Urgent Care, waiting for stitches because I’d been bitten while breaking up a dog fight between my two cattle dogs. I was having serious problems, which came to a head with a terrible fight that left my older dog with a nasty injury that required multiple surgeries. (Pro tip! Don’t wait until things get bad to get help!)

Emily gave me hope, which I desperately needed. Though I’d been working with/around dogs for almost 10 years, I was in over my head. Her Behavior Intervention Programs were specifically tailored to each dog, and she was able to bring a long history of behavior training, experience with aggression, and veterinary industry experience to the table. She was able to help me see the situation and environment in new ways and implement new management strategies to keep everyone safe—human and canine alike!

Emily was even able to work directly with my veterinarian in Essex so my vet team could understand exactly what was going on and recommend the best possible behavior medication for my younger dog, who struggled with significant anxiety.

We still practice a lot of management and do a lot of relationship-building, but every day I feel more and more confident, and I think they do, too. It’s important to me to work with a true, certified professional for serious issues, so I was so grateful to be able to work with a trainer who uses evidence-based methods and always has the dog’s mental, physical, and emotional wellness in mind. What I learned from Emily is invaluable, and I would have spent double what we did without a second thought. Thank you, Emily, you mean the world to my family and me!!!

“Emily is amazing! My dog took to her right away and works so well with her. Emily has an incredible amount of knowledge about dog neurology and behavior, making her training techniques extremely effective. Working with Emily is super fun, and she is full of positive vibes. Even after one training session, my pup Sofie is so much more confident, and she is finally engaging with me and eager to work.”

"Emily has done amazing work with Zola, our rescue pup who has substantial chemical/hormonal issues which affect her behavior. Zola is terrified of almost everything and everyone new and has problems being a “real dog”. Emily has shown Zola nothing but confidence, patience, and understanding. More importantly, Emily has shown us how to make the most of Zola’s attributes, how to be consistent in our behaviors, and how to manage her behavior is small steps that lead to bigger outcomes. We brought Emily and our vet together to discuss non-medical treatments, and Emily was the one to suggest the use of a supplement that has helped Zola’s reactivity. We have absolute confidence in the work she has done for Zola and do not hesitate to recommend her for any dog – and especially recommend her for dogs and pups that have been rescued and have deep seated emotional and behavioral problems. She is a gem."
