Helping Dogs & Their Humans Find Calm in the Chaos

Here are some common problems you may be running into:

  1. You recognize there is a behavior issue, but don’t know how to fix it.

  2. There is a TON of information out there, and you aren’t sure what is evidence-based and will achieve the results you need.

  3. You aren’t sure, don’t feel safe, or lack confidence walking your dog, inviting guests over to the house, or living your normal life without having to stress about your dog.

  4. You just want to know how to help your dog feel better and less anxious about their triggers.

What Can I Help With?

  • Barking, lunging, & growling

  • Resource Guarding

  • Aggression to people & dogs

  • Dogs fighting in the household

  • Separation Anxiety

  • Under socialization and fear

How Will You Help Me and My Dog?

We will start with a consultation in your home so I can get to know you, your household, and your dog. I’ll be assessing the behavioral issues you are experiencing, get to the bottom of the “why,” and put together a custom plan for you.

Training Philosphy

I resolve behavioral issues through an approach that centers the welfare of both the dog and the human, and prioritizes the use of Positive Reinforcement.

You are the most important part of your dog’s life and I will teach you how to communicate better with your dog, as we explore the biological, psychological, and social needs of your dog. Together, we will create and implement a plan that works for everybody and will bring harmony to your household once again.

Emily loves working with pet parents and their dogs to strengthen the human animal bond through positive training. Over the last 20+ years she has worked with a variety of breeds from terriers to mastiffs to mutts. Due to the nature of the cases that she sees, Emily is often faced with families who have experienced trauma due to their dog's behavior. She loves working with these clients to repair and improve their relationship with their dog, with an emphasis on meeting the needs at both ends of the leash.

Emily has been involved in animal welfare for the last 13 years assisting a variety of shelters and rescue organizations with their behavior programs. She strives to help shelter dogs have the best quality of life possible, to provide shelter staff with the training needed to keep themselves and the animals in their care safe, and to support the community with dog training and behavior resources. Emily is passionate about making education and mentorship accessible to all. She provides one on one skills training, dog behavior seminars and animal handling workshops for dog trainers and behavior consultants, rescue and shelter staff, animal control officers and veterinary professionals.

When she's not working, Emily loves spending time in nature with her wife and dogs. She is an avid reader, a self-described comic book nerd, and enjoys collecting tattoos from some of Vermont's talented artists.
